#ArroiLikes Jonathan Meese at Templon

Jonathan Meese, a German artist born in Tokyo, is exhibited until 21 December 2019 at the Templon Gallery — Grenier Saint-Lazare in « Meese Haute Couture — la Haute Couture de l’Avenir s’appelle Sommeil » (Meese Haute Couture – The haute couture of the future is called Sleep).

At ease with painting, performance, installations and sculpture… This unclassifiable artist makes light of cultural and historical references and presents controversial and famous characters ranging from Stalin to Fantomas.

His « Meese Fashion show » brings together various mediums to pay tribute to the world of Parisian fashion through the figures of Lagerfeld, the portraits of Saint-Laurent, Coco Chanel or Louis XIV. Afresh, he mixes references of the great history and pop culture for a playful and jubilant exhibition. He questions, as usual, the porosity between worlds, especially those of appearance and power, and proposes to place art at the centre of everything; it’s him who impels the creation of fashion as good taste.
