The abundant energy builds the myth and pervades the paintings of Mickaël Molinié

Ali vs Frazier, Mythe Ali, Liston vs Clay… For a long time, Mickaël Molinié has been creating mixed techniques on canvas inspired by the world of boxing and the personalities shaping it. His artworks are rich in symbols as a result of the usage of written words, chosen images, and the represented forms.

For the exhibition «The rumble in the jungle», Mickaël Molinié presents new creations related to the Myth of Ali and on a broader level, the world of boxing. Also, for the first time, highlights female boxing.

Mickaël Molinié’s creative process develops in the form of free figuration without the mimicry of a reality. It is inspired by “the study of the various artistic expressions crafted by young children”, thus he is free to create without an aesthetic or an academic boundary. In his work, we observe a multitude of colours chosen according to his subject of study in a naive approach to form, without rules of scale or proportion. The artist explains favoring this clumsy shape in order to put the viewers out of their comfort zone.

His paintings which look like graffitis and anarchic collages, reveal through symbols and other metaphors, the story of the character -or the historical event- chosen by Molinié. In his work, it is always about paying homage to a historical “entity” in a sort of allegorical melting pot.
